Margaret L. Hinton, 92, of Harrisburg, transitioned into eternal life on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at the Jewish Home of Greater Harrisburg.
She was born in Statesville, NC, daughter of the late Charles Allison, Sr. and the late Nannie B. Allison, a graduate of Harrisburg School District's Program of Practical Nursing, retired from the Harrisburg Hospital as a Licensed Practical Nurse with 28 years of service. Margaret was a member Goodwin Memorial Baptist Church, where she served on the Nurses' Auxiliary, the Usher Board and was the Chaplain of the Seasoned Saints, a former member of the Order of Eastern Star, a volunteer at Camp Curtain Memorial Mitchell UMC's soup kitchen and "The Caregiver" of her neighbor. She leaves to celebrate her life, her children, Mary Austin (Nate); Rev. Donrico Colden Sr. (Caron); Melvin Hinton Jr. (Brenda); William Hinton Sr. (LaTonya); Michelle Hinton Williamson and twins, Debra Hinton Brown (Antoine) and Heather Hinton; a host of grand, great grand; great-great grands, nieces, nephews and friends. Margaret's life will be celebrated on Friday, March 20 at 11:00 a.m. in the Sanctuary of her Church, 2447 Green St., with viewing 10:30 until 11:00 a.m. and burial in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
