Michael Clayborn Lucas, Sr., age 77, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2025, in his home in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Born in Fredericksburg, Virginia, Michael was the beloved son of the late Ruth Virginia Wormley Grier and Clayborn M. Lucas.
He was the devoted father of the late Michael Clayborn Lucas, Jr. and is survived by his loving daughter, Keya Lucas Shell and his five grandchildren, Unique, Lauren, Phaedra Lucas and Christian & Elise Shell. He will be deeply missed by Keya, his five grandchildren and all who knew and loved him.
Michael was a funny, stubborn man with a contagious laugh and a great love for life. He brought joy to those around him with his humor and warmth. He especially enjoyed watching westerns, listening to the timeless voice of Frank Sinatra and cheering on his grandchildren, Elise and Christian, as they played basketball. His unforgettable personality left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
Michael retired from a long and dedicated career with Susquehanna Laborers, where he was known for his hard work, reliability and strong work ethic.
He is also survived by his cherished siblings, sisters, Johathan R. “Chucky” Palmer, Loita M. Zerbe of Pensacola, FL and Tonya A. McCollum; brothers, Kevin J. Wormley and Neil McCollum. He will also be fondly remembered by a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
In accordance with his family’s wishes, Michael will be laid to rest through direct cremation.
In lieu of traditional flowers, the family kindly requests that monetary donations be made to Elevation Sports Academy: Empowering Youth through Education and Sports, in memory of Michael Clayborn Lucas, Sr.
