MONIQUE DORETHA CARTER, 60, formerly of Regina Street, Harrisburg, was the first-born daughter of the late James "Tight Rope” Carter and the late Ruth "Micky" Vanderhorst Carter, peacefully transitioned from this earthly life into eternal life on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 in Suburban Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland.
Moni, as she was affectionately called by family and friends, was a force of nature that paved her own path in her life. She lived for the day, did what she wanted and wanted nothing but the best of love and happiness for everyone. Moni was strong of heart and will. She loved concerts, music, action movies, good food and nothing meant more to her than her family.
She leaves behind to carry her legacy to be the best version of yourself that you have been gifted with, her daughter, Montika Mickiera Carter Brown of Walkersville, Maryland; her son, Jermel Thomas James Carter Brown of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; her husband and life partner, Thomas Edward Brown of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; her son-in-law, Michael Matthews of Walkersville, Maryland; her three grandchildren, Jakiya Rachelle Brown of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Alaysia Marie Matthews and Michael Terrell Isaiah Matthews of Walkersville, Maryland; her loving sisters, Benita Easter Garfield (Leon Garfield) of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and Krista Towels of Ohio; a host of many first cousins, other relatives and friends that love her.
Monique cared for everyone that crossed her path even if they wronged her. She was the epitome of what it is to forgive. To the many nieces and nephews, she claimed, loved and that loved her, she was and always will be "Aunt Moni". Our hearts are heavy, but we know she is home now with "the Father" and back in the arms of her mother and father. We love you Moni, Rest in Paradise.
Her life will be celebrated on Saturday, October 22nd at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Major H. Winfield Funeral Home, 704 N. Front Street, Steelton, with viewing and visitation 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
