Rachele Wallace Powell was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. She was the beloved sixth child of the late Richard Wallace and the late Marie Johnson-Wallace, which from that union bore six children.
She initiated her spiritual journey at an early age at Beulah Baptist Church, where she was baptized by Reverend J. C. Wallace. Throughout the years she contributed to several ministries.
Rachele was a graduate from Harrisburg High School. She started her working career at IBM and worked for various local companies in the area over the years, ending her career with her service to the Pennsylvania State Department of Agriculture.
She enjoyed spending time and traveling with her husband, Gary, which they did extensively. Rachele loved traveling to Tampa, Florida and was a die-hard Tampa Bay Buccaneers fan. While Gary fished, Rachele enjoyed the luxuries in the area they happened to be in at the time.
On January 25, 2026, Rachele peacefully transitioned into eternal life at the WellSpan York Hospital in York, Pennsylvania.
In addition to her parents, Rachele was preceded in death by her siblings, Willie “Chuck” Wallace, Rose Hubbard, Louise Cook, Georgianne Manning, Shirley McKenion, Jerry Wallace, Jackie Green and Bertha Johnson.
Rachele leaves behind her loving husband of forty-two years and six months, Gary Powell; her son, Brant Wallace (Tracy) of York, PA; siblings, Delores McArthur of Steelton, PA; Darryl Murry (Karen) of Monteca, CA and Dennis Wallace of Wilmington, DE; five grandchildren, Brant, Jr., Devin, Alexandria, Christian and Timmy; three great-grandchildren, Aaliyah, Jeremiah and Deante. She was affectionately known by her grandkids as “Mamma Red,” as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends.
