Richard Frederick βRickβ Green departed this life on July 15, 2023 at the Cedar Grove Respiratory and Nursing Care Center in Williamstown, NJ. He was born in Harrisburg, PA to the late Charles H. Creamer, Sr. and the late Annabelle Green.
Rick graduated from the former John Harris High School in 1973 and subsequently attended Cheyney University on a basketball scholarship. He obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Maryland University College.
Richard was a champion of small businesses, particularly minority owned businesses as he devoted most of his professional career towards their advancement. He proudly served as the Minority Business Enterprise Administrator for the State of Maryland, the Deputy Director of the Virginia Department of Minority Business Enterprise and the Central Pennsylvania Branch Director for the U.S. Small Business Administration. A lifelong athlete and avid sports fan, Rick lent his talents to develop many young athletes. In 2007, he served as an Assistant Basketball Coach for the Highland Springs High School Varsity Boys Basketball Team leading them to win the AAA Virginia State High School League championship.
Among all his accolades and achievements, Rickβs greatest source of pride and joy came from his family. He leaves behind to cherish memories of him, his daughters, Kia Green of Asbury Park, NJ, Jessica Givens, Jordan Kelly and her husband, Jordan Kelly and Paris Green all of Harrisburg; his grandchildren, Sky and Romeo; his sisters, Barbara Summerford of Hummelstown and Brenda (Mac) Walker of Topeka, KS; his brother, Vernon Green of Atlanta, GA; his aunt, Ruby Colden of Harrisburg and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Donna Carman, Mary Morash and Juanita Britton and his brothers, John Green, Jr., Michael Green and Charles Creamer, Jr.
A celebration of Rickβs life will be held Thursday, July 27, 2023 at 11:00 am at The Greater Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 212 N. Progress Ave., Harrisburg, PA 17109 with viewing and visitation 9:30 am until 11 am and interment immediately following at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
