On September 2, 2023 heaven received another daughter. Rosalind Lemytra “Sis” Macon was born to the late Frank Norris and Bessie Jane (Tucker) Macon from Dublin, Georgia. She grew up in Steelton, PA surrounded by family and enjoying the community life of South Fourth Street with her brother Emmet. She received her formal education from the old Steelton High School System. Rosalind accepted Christ at an early age at the Beulah Baptist Church in Steelton.
Rosalind married her high school sweetheart, Matthew “Nip” Macon and remained in the Steelton area throughout their 73-year marriage. Sis was an active, sharp dresser, gifted with hospitality and a straight forward personality. She enjoyed house parties, music, dancing, card games and playing board games like Jeopardy and Scrabble. She enjoyed family times and traveling; especially memorable trips to Cincinnati, Ohio to visit family.
Along with being a dedicated homemaker, Rosalind had several clerical jobs including the State, John Wanamaker Department Store and AMP Inc. from where she retired in 1985. She joined the United Baptist Church when on Daisy Street in Harrisburg in the 1970s. Later in the 1990s, she served there at United on Walnut Street with her husband Deacon Macon as a Deaconess.
In addition to her parents and husband, at age 94 Rosalind was preceded in transitioning to eternal life by her two brothers, Elmer Norris and Emmet Norris. She leaves to mourn her passing, yet to celebrate her life and to cherish wonderful memories of her, her four children; Marlene Wright of Upper Marlboro, MD; Marcia Anderson and her husband, James “Jim” Anderson of Cincinnati, OH; Melinda Macon of Harrisburg and Matthew Jerome Macon of Harrisburg; eight grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Deaconess Rosalind Macon’s life will be celebrated on Friday, September 8, 2023 at 12 Noon in the Sanctuary of her Church, 1401 Walnut St., Harrisburg with viewing 11 a.m. until Noon and burial in William Howard Day Cemetery.

Don't think of her as gone away, Aunt Sis's journey just begun, life holds so many facets, this earth is only one. Just think of her as resting from the sorrow and the tears in a place of once and comfort, where there are no days and years. Think how she must be wishing that we could know today how nothing but our sadness can really pass away. And think of Aunt Sis as living in the hearts of those she touched, for nothing love is ever lost, and she was loved so much. -Memorial Card Shop-
