Ruby Nell Heidelberg departed this life on Thursday, February 18, 2021 at UPMC Pinnacle Harrisburg Hospital.
She was born in Laurens, South Carolina, the daughter of the late Sam and Lucy Griffin Boyd. At an early age she became a member of the Poplar Springs A. M. E. Church in Laurens, South Carolina. After her relocation to Harrisburg, Pa, she attended First Church of the Brethren.
Ruby Nell was employed as an healthcare worker at Spring Creek Rehabilitation and Nursing Center until she became disabled.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Sammy L. Boyd and Walter Boyd; two sisters, Lue Jimmie Shaw and Bernice Young and a special nephew, Raymond Hill.
Ruby leaves to celebrate her life, her loving and devoted children, Theodore Heidelberg, Antranette Heidelberg and Deshawn Heidelberg of the home; her five sisters, Margaret (Wade) Calwile of Fountain Inn, South Carolina; Betty Hardy of Atlanta, Georgia; Shirley Watts of Fountain Inn, South Carolina; Dorothy (Oliver) Harris of Fountain Inn, South Carolina and Mattie Boyd of Brooklyn, New York; her three brothers, James(Helene) Boyd of Greenville, South Carolina; Willie Albert Boyd of Gray Court, South Carolina and Joe Lewis Boyd of Laurens, South Carolina; her special niece, Jarion Hill of Atlanta, Georgia and her special nephews, Ronnie Hill of Wichita Falls, TX and John Wayne Hill of Brooklyn, New York; her special cousin, April Jean Brown of Gray Court, South Carolina and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Ruby Nell you were one of thirteen beautiful flowers that blossomed in the gardened that belonged to Sam and Lucy Boyd. They nourished and watered you and gave all that God had bestowed upon them, and now the time has come for your blossoms to join Papa, Nanny, Sammie, Walter, Lue Jimme and Bernice and others gone on before, in our Heavenly Father’s Garden. May you find the rest and peace you have been longing for.
Her life will be celebrated at 12 Noon on Friday, March 19 in the Chapel of Major H. Winfield Funeral Home, Steelton with Visitation from 11:30 until 12 Noon. COVID-19 Guidelines will be observed with face masks and social distancing for all attendees. Live Streaming of the service will be available on Major H. Winfield Funeral Home’s YouTube page.

Dearest Ms.Ruby, we at Harrisburg First Church of the Brethren were so saddened to hear of your passing but know you are no longer suffering and are joyously with your Lord!
