Ryan James was born in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Annie Griffin James and George James, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at the age of 49.

Ryan was a proud graduate of William Penn High School and a man who poured his heart into every aspect of his life. He was employed by Universal Logistics of Virginia LLC, where his strong work ethic and positive attitude earned him respect and admiration from his colleagues.

In addition to his professional career, Ryan worked alongside his dear Uncle William rehabbing homes in the Harrisburg area. Together, they transformed houses into homes, leaving behind a tangible legacy of hard work, skill, and dedication.

A die-hard Philadelphia Eagles fan, Ryan’s enthusiasm for his team was unmatched. During football season, he was always decked out in Eagles gear, cheering passionately for every game. His love of competition extended beyond football; Ryan was an active member of the UPA Pool League and The Verhovay Private Club. He excelled at darts, cornhole, and pool, often dominating in tournaments and forming lasting friendships with his teammates and competitors alike.

Ryan was also the glue of his family, always the first to show up for family functions to help set up and assist wherever needed. His generosity and selflessness were evident in the way he supported and celebrated his loved ones. Known for his warm hugs, infectious laughter, and unshakable kindness, Ryan had a way of making everyone feel seen and valued.

In his youth, Ryan was a devoted member of Grace Temple Church of the Living God, where he nurtured his faith and values. Throughout his life, he carried these teachings with him, spreading love and joy wherever he went.

Ryan leaves behind his cherished children, Rameik James and Ranae James of Harrisburg, PA, and his beloved grandchildren, Makai and Mykel Nelson, who were the lights of his life. He is also survived by six loving sisters—Eve Brown (Robert), Messias Simmons (Jermaine), Sarai Morton (Jermaine), Mary James, Deborah James and Hannah James, all of Harrisburg—and two devoted brothers, Antonio Fort of Macon, GA, and Joseph James of Harrisburg. Ryan will be deeply missed by a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and countless friends.

Ryan’s legacy of love, loyalty, and generosity will live on in the hearts of everyone he touched. we know he is with the Lord, watching over us. Fly high, Ryan—your kindness and spirit will forever inspire us.

His life will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 in the Chapel of the Major H. Winfield Funeral Home, Steelton with viewing and visitation from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. and burial in Paxtang Cemetery.
