Stanley Maurice Cooksey, 50, transitioned into eternal life on Thursday, July 8, 2021 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
He was born in Harrisburg, the son of Joni Cooksey and the late Stanley Franklin, received his formal education in the Harrisburg Public School District. During his working career, Fred formerly worked at Power Component Systems and Giant Food Store. Most recently entered the field of Housing Restoration as an entrepreneur.
“Fred”, as he was affectionately called by family and friends, was a big guy with a big heart who always looked out for his family and friends. In his leisure, he loved to play cards, tell jokes and laugh. He loved clothes, jewelry, sneakers and stylish cars. Fred was a sharp dresser with his own style; some would refer to him as “Fly Guy”. In addition to his father; his maternal grandmother, Pearl I. Cooksey; his paternal grandmother, Madeline Franklin and paternal grandfather, Thomas Franklin preceded him in death. Fred leaves to celebrate his life and to cherish precious memories of him and their time spent together: his daughters, Journey Cooksey and Jhené Cooksey; his mother, Joni Cooksey; his sister, Tamika Cooksey; his niece, Sharde Cooksey; his great nephews, U´Day Lauren Cooksey and Matthew Baldwin; his maternal aunt, Patti Cooksey; his maternal uncles, Glen Anderson, Zachary Anderson and Billy Hinton; his paternal uncle, Ronald “Ronnie” Franklin; his paternal aunts, Patricia “Patty” Franklin, Donna Franklin-Doaks and Madeline “Jeannie” FranklinWoodward; his sisters of the heart, Caché Woodward and Shakira Franklin; his brothers of the heart, Tyrrell Franklin, Lenny Howze, Maurice Thompson, Shawn Chase, Pep Jackson, Marty Jackson, Mari Anthony, Manny Smith, Jamal Crummel and Mark Bailey; his extended family, Anne and Cheryl Mills and family, as well as a host of other relatives and friends. Fred’s life will be celebrated on Friday, July 16 at 11:00 a.m. with a viewing and visitation from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. in the Sanctuary of New Hope Living Baptist Church at 395 South 2nd Street, Steelton, PA 17113.
