SYLVESTRE OLIVER ONDOUA, 51, transitioned into eternal life on Monday, December 27, 2021 at Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill, Pennsylvania after battling a long illness. He was the son of Nanga Francoise and the late Enqoulou Sylvestre and was born in Yaoundé, Cameroon on November 27, 1970. Sylvestre attended High School and College in Cameroon where he graduated with a degree in Culinary Studies. After his studies, Mr. Ondoua obtained a job as "Maître d'hôtel" at the Cameroonian Presidency in Yaoundé, Cameroon. In 2002, he relocated to the United States where he worked at the Cameroonian Embassy in Washington DC. In 2004, he moved to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania where he worked at the Hilton Hotel in Downtown Harrisburg for a couple of years. He switched his career path in 2006 and obtained a job at Dayton Parts LLC as a manufacturer until 2019. Because of a health issue, Mr. Ondoua stopped working at Dayton Parts and focused on taking care of his health. He was socially involved in his community. He was the founder of the Immigrant Welcome Center, an organization helping new African immigrants integrate in the US. He was also one the founding fathers of the Cameroonian Association of Harrisburg, ARCAH, where he was Chairman from 2015 to 2021. Mr. Ondoua was a member of Saint Paul Episcopal Church of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania from 2005 until his death. He is survived by his spouse, his daughter, his mother, his six siblings and numerous nephews and nieces. Mr. Ondoua's life will be celebrated at 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM on Saturday, January 22 in the Chapel of Major H. Winfield Funeral Home at 704 N. Front Street, Steelton, PA 17113.
