Thelma Clements, 90, of Harrisburg, peacefully transitioned into eternal life on Saturday, August 27, 2022 at Colonial Park Care Center.
She was born in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, daughter of the late William Wiggins and the late Bertha (Smith) Wiggins.
During her working career she was employed at The Zembo Mosque, The Penn Harris Motor Inn and was a prison guard and retired from The Dauphin County Prison. Thelma was a member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, American Legion Ephraim Slaughter Ladies Auxiliary Post#733 and Harrisburg Elks.
In her leisure, she enjoyed playing cards, crossword puzzles and reading the Bible.
In addition to her parents, William Wiggins and Bertha Bethel, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Clements; her sister, Flossie McCraw; her stepsister, Marian Jones; her stepbrother, Rudy Bethel; her nieces, Flossie "Sandy" McCraw, Emily Jeannie McCraw and Linda Milligan and leaves to celebrate her life; her daughter, Vendetta Golden Payton (Keith Wadley) of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; her three grandchildren, Dawreka Golden of Baltimore, Maryland, Tavone Golden of Delanco, New Jersey and Ronmar Payton of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; five great grandchildren, Ausulae Jackson of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Jaysha Davis, Aerreona Tompson, both of Baltimore, Maryland, Nacia Golden of Virginia and Amere Payton of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; her four great-great grandchildren, Jayre Jackson, Jayla Jackson, Maison Morris and Sa’nai Scott; her nieces, Clara Teresa Cofield of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Diane Turner of York, Pennsylvania, Annette McCraw and Connie Barbee, both of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; her nephews, Melvin Sr., Terry, Eric Tony and Lonnie McCraw, all of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; her best friend, Doris Norris of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and a host of other nieces, nephews and friends.
Her life will be celebrated in the Sanctuary of her church, 2339 N. 6th Street, Harrisburg at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 3, with viewing from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. and burial in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
Ministry of Comfort entrusted to the Major H. Winfield Funeral Home Corp. COVID-19 Guidelines will be observed with face masks for all attendees.
