Ulander Denise "Niecy" Martin was born June 8, 1970 in Bay Minette, AL to James Edward English and the late Emma Jean Martin. She departed from this life on Saturday, July 27, 2019, surrounded and comforted by her family.

After earning her high school diploma at Lock High School in Los Angeles CA, she decided to enter the nursing profession. Ulander thrived as a nurse and full-time mother. Her warm, caring and supportive personality enabled her to enjoy a successful nursing career at William F. Green Veteran Home and North Baldwin Infirmary. Her children called her blessed.

She accepted Christ at an early age. She attended Bethlehem Baptist Church before becoming a dedicated and faithful member at Union Baptist Church. She was a member of the choir and served as a member of the hospitality/kitchen staff. After God and family, her favorite activity was shopping. Her favorite and happiest moments were cooking and being surrounded by family and friends.

She leaves love and cherished memories to four loving and devoted children; Nieaira Ricks, Desmond Thornton, Nydia Thornton and Timberly Barnes; a special nephew, Kyree McCall; grandchildren, Jordan Gilberry, Morgan Gilberry and Alanna Sanders; and a godson, London Gulley.

The Celebration of Life will be held at Union Baptist Church, 849 Carroll Street, Bay Minette AL on Saturday, August 3, 2019 at 11AM, Reverend D.L. Boykin and Reverend William Taylor, Officiating.
