Visitation Friday July 9,2021 1:00 pm at the McCoy Funeral Home
On December 25, 1947 Mary Elizabeth Thomas made her grand entrance into the world in Hamilton, Ga to the late Eddie and Johnnie Mae Hixon. She attended Manchester Middle/High where she completed 12th grade studies. In 1997 she married the late Willie Roy Thomas.
Mary accepted Christ at an early age at the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church. During the early 1960's God led her to move her membership. She joined Leverette Hill Missionary Baptist Church under Pastor John T. O'hara. Mother Mary continued her discipleship under the leadership of Pastor T.W. Neal until God called her home. Mary was a fully devoted follower of Christ, faithful in her worship and fellowship to not only Pastor T.W. Neal but also to her church congregation. During her discipleship she happily and proudly served for many years as the Church Secretary. In the years prior she also served as a member of the Usher Board Ministry. Mother Mary was actively serving as a member of both the Missionary and Motherboard ministries until her untimely passing.
Mary had a passion for people. She was genuinely concerned about the well-being of others. This led her to pursue a life-long career as a professional home health care specialist. Throughout her career she had the opportunity to care for countless clients while creating lief-long bonds with each of them.
Mother Mary was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved God first and then her family. She was immensely proud of her family and was happiest when she was surrounded by them. She loved spending time in the kitchen creating delicious meals for her family and friends. She was widely known for hosting large Sunday dinners in which all were invited.
Our beloved, Mary Elizabeth Thomas,73, passed away peacefully gaining her wings at her home in Warm Springs, GA on the morning of Friday, July 2, 2021. Her loving heart left a beacon of light for all in the community. She leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories.

Hixon ; her three loving grandchildren, Carither (Jason) Coverson, Jamal (JaQuandra Anthony) Copeland, and Jaron (Georgia) Hudson ; her seven cherished great-grandchildren , Jasius Coverson, Jae'Dius Coverson, Aleaja Copeland, Johnny White, Antonio White, Isaiah Hudson, Casshe' Copeland ; her four devoted bonus sisters, Veola Jackson, Ida Ann Dunn, Betty Richardson, and Jessie Jefferson ; her special friend, Emanuelle Prather ;two bonus daughters, Michele "Renee" Stanford and LaTonja Hixson ; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
