Emon “Lady T” Thompson was born in Holly Springs, Mississippi to Emon and Coretha Echols Houston on April 22, 1943. In 1953 at the age of 10 the family moved from Mississippi to Blytheville. Emon came on the scene as a local disc jockey using the name “Lady Taurus”, she later shortened it to simply “Lady T”; spinning records at all the local clubs in the Blytheville area, and having the distinction as the first female DJ in Arkansas. Emon also owned and operated several businesses in Blytheville. She was a member of Bethlehem Temple Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Bishop R. L. Jones. Emon was preceded in death by her parents. On Friday, September 18, 2020 Emon passed away at Great River Medical Center at the age of 77. She leaves to cherish her memories one daughter, Stephfonye Collins of Blytheville, Arkansas; her companion and boyfriend, Roy Shaw of the home; a god-son, Damon (Patricia) Williams of Blytheville, Arkansas; two aunts, Savannah Weston of Memphis, Tennessee and Bessie (William) Howell of Chicago, Illinois; and a host of other family and friends. A public walk-through will be held Saturday, September 26, 2020 at 11:00 until 12:00 noon. Private funeral services will be conducted also on Saturday, September 26, 2020 at 12:00 noon at McDonald-Horne Funeral Home Chapel, 1207 South Division Street, Blytheville, Arkansas. Elder Nathaniel Moore will deliver the eulogy with burial in Memory Gardens Cemetery. In compliance with COVID-19 restrictions social distancing will be required. Face masks are mandated to attend the visitation and funeral services. McDonald-Horne Funeral Home is in charge of services and arrangements.
