Edward L. Walker, Sr. of Blytheville, Arkansas was born September 9, 1942, in Itta Bena, Mississippi, the son of Arthur Walker and Marie Stewart Walker. Edward was a graduate of Amanda Elzy High School. He was a dutiful and dedicated member of Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Bishop Bobby Patterson. Edward served Mt. Moriah as a deacon and a member of the Menβs Choir. He retired from Terra Chemical Company after many years of service. Edward also was a member of the Versital-25 Social Club, he enjoyed having fun and was the life of the party.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and the mother of his children, Judy Earls Walker, one son, Thomas Walker, three brothers, John Arthur Walker, Bernard Walker, and Melvin Walker. Edward passed away on Tuesday May 13, 2025, at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis at the age of 82.
He leaves to celebrate his love and cherish precious memories, his wife Helen Walker of the home, one son, Edward L. Walker, II of Blytheville, Arkansas; two daughters, Mariko Walker of Maumelle, Arkansas and Tiffany (Ross) Buchanan of Memphis, Tennessee; one brother, Robert Earl Walker, five grandchildren, two great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2025, from 12:00 noon until services begin at 2:00 at Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church, 920 South Lake Street, Blytheville, AR. Where Bishop Bobby Patterson is the pastor.
The Celebration of Life Service will begin at 2:00 p.m. with Bishop Bobby Patterson delivering the eulogy and interment to follow in Dogwood Gardens Cemetery.
