The Shoulders On Which We Stand
We come to this journey so unaware Unaware of those whom we will meet who genuinely care They care about our day, families, and, oh yes, the work we do. This work encourages us to grow, while at the same time, to stall Stall until it's your turn, but how will you ever get there, you know...... to the top Well, my Dear Sister friend, that's when you stooped just enough for me to stand To stand on your shoulders to see the world you once had only imagined. I can only imagine the joy of seeing you again, with your beautiful daily blessings Blessings that kept me steady and strong Strong, yet soft, always reminding me We were never meant to walk this life alone. So Sweet Lady, it's goodbye for now, But you will never be forgotten. I will do as you taught, Offer my shoulders for others as they climb their own mountains. Rest, my Dear Sweet Sister Friend.
With love, Tessie Williams Dowell, Ph.D.
