Obituary For John Henry Ellis
ELLIS, Mr. John Henry 81 , a resident of Shorter, AL, passed September 13, 2026, at Jackson Hospital in Montgomery, AL. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at 10:00 A.M. at Greater St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church, Tuskegee, AL, Dr. Woodrow Johnson, Jr., Pastor. Interment will follow in the Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell, AL, McKenzie's Funeral Home Staff, directing. Visitation will be held on Monday, September 21, 2026, from 2:00 P.M. at 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Mr. Ellis will lie in state one hour prior to the service.
The family of Mr. John Henry Ellis appreciates the support that they have received during their time of bereavement from so many people who knew and loved him. With fervent hearts we pray for the entire Ellis family. May you find comfort in the warm memories that John created. He was a wonderful person, a role model of family devotion, a community supporter and a defender of our country! We thank him for your service. I remember the times he traveled around the county, with the Alpha Xi Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. as we presented the March Of Dimes sponsored, 'Safe Sleep' Program! John was our 'Tech Man'! He handled the computer, Deb taught the classes, and Lakeya set up the models! (Sorry Keone. Work kept you from joining the fun!) He talked about our limited skills and made us laugh at the same time!! He would throw in a joke when you didn't expect it. Big John let Deb drive our Zeta Crystal Doves,in his NEW SUV -The White Mule , during a Carver Parade! For his support, our chapter presented him a Distinguished Service Award. We thank you Lord for Blessing us to know him. His works will never let us forget him!
