Channie Belle McDonald Crockett slipped quietly into the arms of the Lord on March 25, 2026 at the age of 88.
Channie was born in Round O, South Carolina, to the late Reverend James McDonald and Elizabeth Coaxum McDonald. She grew up in a large and loving family grounded in a strong Christian values.
She was educated in the Colleton County School District and, upon graduation, enrolled at Allen University, where she earned a degree in Education. She later moved to Lancaster, SC where she began her teaching career at Clinton Elementary School. Continuing her pursuit of knowledge, she earned a Master's degree in Library Science from Winthrop University. Channie served as the Librarian at Brooklyn Springs Elementary until her retirement, dedicating over 30 years of faithful service to the Lancaster County School District.
Channie met and married the love of her life, James Louis Crockett. Together, they shared many beautiful years raising their daughters and cherishing time with their grandchildren.
A devoted woman of faith, Channie joined Mount Zion AME Zion Church where she became a faithful and active member. She served in numerous capacities at both the local and district levels. Her service included many years as a dedicated usher, where she found great joy in being a doorkeeper in the house of the Lord. She also served as President of Project XII of the Methodist Women's Club and President of the Parent Body of the Women's Home and Overseas Missionary Society. Additionally, was actively involved in the Girl Scout Ministry, served as Church Administrator under Reverend Victor Wilson, and led as the Children's Church Director. Channie also served on the Steward Board, the Board of Relation, and worked closely with the pastors through the Ministry of Kindness to support those in need. She was appointed as a Deaconess and served as President for several years.
After retirement, she continued her commitment to serve by volunteering with HOPE of Lancaster, extending her love and cared throughout the community. She also worked at the Lancaster Girl's Home.
Channie's love language was service. She gave selflessly to her family, friends, and community for as long as she was able. An avid reader, she instilled a lifelong love of reading in her students, children, and grandchildren. She will always be remembered for her kindness, dedication, and unwavering commitment to others.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory her daughters, Bellenia (Billy) Jackson and Myrna (Chris) Kennerly; her beloved grandchildren, Jeremy (Matthew) Jackson, Joseph Jackson, and Jada Kennerly; one dear sister-in-law, Olivia McDonald and a brother-in-law, Reverend Henry Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Louis Crockett, and her parents, Reverend James McDonald and Elzabeth Coaxum McDonald and 5 brothers and 3 sisters. Channie's legacy of love, faith, and service will live on in all who knew and loved her.

Viewing will be 1-6pm, Monday, March 30, 2026 at McMullen Funeral Home. The family will receive family and friends at this time.
Funeral Services will be 1:00 pm, Tuesday, March 31, 2026 at Mt. Zion AME Zion Church by the Reverend Albert Young with committal rites at Lancaster Memorial Park.
