Obituary For Helen F. New

Helen Nivens Faulkner-New, 78, humbly bowed to God's will and peacefully surrendered on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at home, surrounded by her loved ones.

She was born to the late Annie Ruth and Manny Nives. Helen was a proud 1964 graduate of Barr Street High School before furthering her education to earn a Master of Divinity and an MBA.

Helen at an early age, was united in marriage to the late Piltia “Billy” Lee Faulkner Jr. From this union she was blessed with three children: the late Ruth Cassandra Faulkner, Billy Maurice Faulkner (Angela), and Christopher Dale Faulkner. She later married her husband of many years, William James New.

In loving memory of those who preceded her in death, Lillie Faulkner (sister), Margaret Houston (sister), Billy Craig (brother-in-law), David H. Houston (brother-in-law), and Rando Faulkner Jr. (brother-in-law).

Helen leaves to cherish her memory her siblings; Mattie Craig, George Nivens (Sherry), Vanessa Tillman, and Jerry Nivens (Glendora); sisters-in-law Kathlean Faulkner and Maxine Johnson (John); grandchildren Maurice Michael Faulkner, Sydney Rae Faulkner-Lazas (Connor) Shannon Kathleen Faulkner, Raven Selen Faulkner, and Kamilah Grace Compton-Faulkner; God-grandchild Michelle Hoezel; great-grandson Lightner Connor Lazas; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and dear friends.

Helen's life was a reflection of her faith, compassion, and strength. She touched countless lives with her wisdom, kindness, and unwavering love.

Memorial Services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, November 1, 2025 at McMullen Funeral Home by the Reverend Frank Faulkner.
