Kirkland Hood, 74, peacefully passed Monday, December 22, 2025. He was the son of the late Lucille Hood and Loman Duncan.
He accepted Christ at an early and was an active member of David Stand AME Zion Church. Kirkland later joined Pleasant Ridge Presbyterian Church. He attended faithfully until his health declined.
He was a graduated of Barr Street High School Class of 1969. Kirkland attended York Technical College. He was a Dallas Cowboys fan, and he loved baseball and basketball. Kirkland loved having a good time with his family and friends. He would grill out during the summertime and invite his family and friends for many years. Kirkland loved traveling to family reunions, and he truly loved his family.
Kirkland is survived by two sons, Kirkland Leonard Hood and Montello Hood both of Lancaster,SC; Nine grandchildren, A'Kiya Hood, JeNarus (Jay) Hood, Jiya Scott, Jesslin Ford, Mikel Stewart, Monterio Hood, Ny'Kie Mingo, Raykwon Grier and Zoran Hood. He had 5 great-grandchildren. Kirkland have one sister, Cheryl Duncan Cook and five brothers, Larry James Duncan, Dennis Neal Duncan, Wayne Charles Duncan, Lindsay Duncan and Roger Ellis Duncan all of Reading Pennslyvania.
He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter Tytyana Hood and brother Lorenzo (Butch) Duncan.
Viewing will be Thursday, January 1, 2026, at 1-5 pm.
Funeral Services will be Friday, January 2, 2026, at Pleasant Ridge Presbyterian Church at 1 pm with burial in Lancaster Memorial Park.

I offer my deepest condolences to the family. I have been knowing Kirk all of my life, and you couldn't find a sweeter, kinder,loving man. A genuine family friend that always greeted me with a smile. Kirk was funny and always a pleasure to be around. Kirk will certainly be missed, but never forgotten. Rest in Paradise, my friend.
I will always remember Bro. Hood as a beautiful, shining light. He would always greet meet with a smile and a sweet, sweet spirit. I am praying for you all. I know God is with you and will comfort you in this season.

Mr. Hood was definitely one of my favorite residents during his stay..He always kept me laughing at his jokes. It was a pleasure that he knew my mom and aunts and my uncles. He loved his strawberry ice cream. I will miss him he was a loving and caring person.
