Birth: Floyd Wimberly was born August 15, 1948, in Pompano Beach, Florida, to the union of Johnny Wimberly Sr. and Clara Mae Frazier-Wimberly, both parents have preceded him in death.

Education: Floyd attended the Reverend Miller Kindergarten and Blanche Ely Elementary School. He was a proud graduate of the Blanche Ely High School class of 1966 (The Outlaw Class). Floyd majored in Sociology at Bethune-Cookman College, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1972.

Marital Status: In July 1985 after inquiring about a young lady across the street, a relative introduced Floyd to Paula Willis. Floyd worked at The Sunshine Health Clinic and across the street, Paula worked for Golden Acres Child Care Center. After meeting, Floyd knew he could settle down and start a family. April 2, 1988 Floyd and Paula were married. To this union, two handsome sons were born, and two beautiful daughters were united. After 31 years of supporting and providing for his family, Floyd remained humble, faithful and resilient to his commitments, passion and family.

Employment: Floyd was employed by several establishments. He gained employment through, Holy Cross Hospital, J. Bryon’s Department Store, The Sunshine Health Clinic and Logistics Leaseway. But his longest tenure came as a Broward County FHSAA Football Official Referee, where he served for more than 30 years. Floyd retired in March of 2009.

Faith: Floyd was a lifetime member of Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church; he was baptized at an early age under the leadership of the Late Reverend D. V. Miller. Floyd continued his membership under the leadership of the Late Dr. R. W. Williams. After the demise of Dr. Williams his spiritual teaching and Leadership was under his present Pastor, Reverend Dr. Robert C. Stanley. Floyd actively served in the Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church Male Chorus. His love for his church was consistently demonstrated through his faithfulness to his duties and responsibilities.

Affiliations: Floyd was initiated into the Pompano Beach Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. on the 1978 “Atlas 17” Line. He was also a member of Pompano Lodge 409. Floyd served as a Board Member of BCOA, Kendall Lakes Homeowners Association and the Blanche Ely Foundation. An avid Fan of America’s Team, The Dallas Cowboys, Floyd was a member of the South Florida Travel Squad. He rarely missed a Monday Night.

The Measure of a Great Man: Floyd will always be remembered for his kind nature. You will never meet a more generous person; the standards upon which all others are measured by. He was always consistent and dependable. He made you feel secure. Floyd could find the good in anyone even if you wronged him, he could forgive you. But he would NEVER throw you away. Floyd will definitely be missed by his loving family and multitude of friends.

He is survived by his loving wife Paula Wimberly; Children: Nichelle Jacobs-Simmons (Austin), La Salle Wimberly, Martavious Wimberly (Rakiyyah), Denzel Wimberly(Lynzey Williams); Grandchildren: Nekayla Simmons, Ashely Salter, Brianna Salter,Taylor Salter,Marlana Salter, Jheylen Wimberly, Zhyon Wimberly, Elijah Wimberly; Great Grandchildren: Malaysia, Karter, Aleiah; Brothers: Dr. Willie James Wimberly (Evelyn) Port Saint Lucie, Fl, John Wimberly, Jr. (Shirley) Fort Lauderdale, FL, Clifford Wimberly, (Zadie) Lauderhill, FL.; Sisters: Jean Heath (Jimmie), Larita Jones (Willie) Coconut Creek, FL, Robin Thompson, Pompano Beach, Fl.
