Mother Dorothy Ann Mills, 82, of Albany, Georgia departed this life on Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, Georgia.
Celebration of Life services will be held Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Third Kiokee Baptist Church, 521 Carver Avenue, Albany, Georgia 31701. Interment will follow in the Floral Memory Gardens, 120 Old Pretoria Road, Albany, Georgia 31721.
The family will be receiving visitors at 1928 Weymouth Dr., Albany, Ga.,on Tuesday August 27, from 5:00-8:00 p.m.

A Time to Be Born: Dorothy Ann Mills was born in Columbus, Ohio on March 29, 1942. She was the daughter of the late James Roy Mills and the late Dolly Mae Langs.
A Time to Learn: She received her formal education at Henry Singleton High School in Morgan, Georgia. She graduated in 1960 and developed a lifelong friendship with the dynamic foursome, “Dot, Polly, Johnnie and Inell.”
Time to Serve: She gave her life to Christ at an early age and joined St. Maryland Baptist Church in Leary, Georgia and became the church secretary during her early years of service.
A Time to Love: Dorothy was a loving, devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. After working in the food industry, education and manufacturing for many years, Dorothy became the homemaker for her grandchildren and family. It was her true calling, and she spent many years laboring and providing priceless, unmatched love and care to the entire Mills Family.
A Time to Embrace: Affectionately known as “Big D” and “Queen Bee,” everyone knew who ruled “1928.” During her reign, she left countless memories that her family and friends will cherish forever. Her sense of humor, gentle voice, loving demeanor and strength was a true blessing to the Mills Family and everyone that knew her.
A Time to Rest: On August 21, 2024, our Heavenly Father picked a beautiful flower for his garden. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandmother, Sylvia Frost Parks, grandfather, Sam Parks, step-mother, Edna Mills, brothers, Ronald and Donald Mills, sisters, LaDonna and Johnnie Mae Mills, and a dear grandson, Bernard Mills, Jr.
A Time to Cherish: Precious memories will forever be cherished by her four children: Pamela Mills, Bernard (Pearlene) Mills, Ginette (special friend, Joseph Martin) Mills of Albany, GA, and Mark (Lakisha) Mills of Alpharetta, GA; six grandchildren, Breanna Mills, Cody Mills, and Tyrell Mills of Albany, GA, and Tamia Mills, Samad Mills, and Jaden Mills of Alpharetta, GA; two great-grandchildren, Jalen Mills and Jordan Mills of Atlanta, GA; two sisters, Patricia Welch and Ezrine Thomas of Columbus, OH; and one brother, Steve Mills of Columbus, OH; a special nephew, Quinton Mills of Columbus, OH; bestie, Agnes “Polly” Wilson; best friends, Johnnie and Inez; special friends of the family, Engrid, Shirley, Betty, Shelena, Patty Jo, Everette (E.J.), Gloria, Willene and Lekha; and a host of dear relatives and friends.
