Obituary For Mother Fannie Mae Bradley

Mother Fannie Mae Bradley, 94, of Albany, Georgia departed this life on Thursday, June 12, 2025 at her residence in Leesburg, Georgia.

Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at 3:00 P.M. in the New Provisor Baptist Church, 3014 Sylvester Road, Albany, Georgia 31705.

Interment will follow in the New Provisor Baptist Church Cemetery, 1500 Doles Road, Albany, Georgia 31705.

Mrs. Fannie Mae Dawson Bradley was born on December 25, 1930, in Albany, Georgia, to the late Mary Magalene Dawson and the late Golden Dawson. On Thursday, June 12, 2025, she peacefully departed this life and bid farewell to her earthly home. She has now gone to her eternal home with the Lord, where there is no more sorrow, no more pain, and no more death.

Mrs. Bradley lived a long and blessed life, reaching the age of 94. As the Psalmist wrote:

“The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years yet is their strength labor and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.” — Psalm 90:10

At an early age, Mrs. Bradley accepted Christ and became a devoted member of St. Paul Baptist Church, where she served faithfully as an usher for many years. Even when her health declined and she could no longer fulfill her usher duties, her commitment to worship the Lord never stopped. She later joined New Provisor Baptist Church, attending alongside her daughter as she continued her walk with God. She was also a proud and active member of the Eastern Star for many years.

Though she did not pursue a formal education, Mrs. Bradley often said that God had blessed her with the remarkable ability to read and write exceptionally well. Most notably, she possessed profound wisdom. She always encouraged her children to pursue education and reach their highest potential.

In 1948, Mrs. Bradley was united in holy matrimony to the late Deacon Jessie Bradley. They shared 42 precious years together until the Lord called him home.

To know Mrs. Fannie Bradley was to love her. She was a one-of- a-kind woman with a giving spirit that seemed boundless. An extrovert by nature, she never met a stranger and showed kindness to everyone she encountered. She was honest and outspoken, always ready to share her thoughts—even if you didn’t agree —but always with love and grace.

Mrs. Bradley worked for many years as a custodian with the Dougherty County school system. More than just her job, she became a mentor and mother figure to many children, particularly those struggling with behavioral issues. When possible, she provided financial assistance, guidance, and emotional support to those in need. She gave selflessly—offering food, clothing, and encouragement—and in return, God continued to bless her so that she could care for her family and others.

On Thursday, June 12, 2025, the Almighty called Mrs. Fannie Bradley—our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend—home to eternal rest and peace.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Deacon Jessie Bradley; daughter, Brenda Luke; brother, C.J. Dawson; nephew, Cedric Dawson; and eldest granddaughter, Lisa Michell Bradley.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. Those mourning her loss while celebrating her life include: one brother, Curtis Frazier (Mary) of Atlanta, GA; uncle, Jessie Frazier of Albany, GA; her loving children, Carrie Bradley of Albany, GA, Jessie Bradley, Jr. (Cynthia), Patricia Fowler (Plymon) of Albany, GA, Phyllis Allen (Ozell) of Albany, GA, Dr. Ophelia Thomas of Albany, GA, and Linda Faith Stephens (Eddie) of Albany, GA; grandson/son, Anthony Bradley of Albany, GA; son-in- law, George Luke of Albany, GA; 18 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren, and many great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family & friends, special cousins and extended sisters, Ora Lee Miller and Rosa Oliver.

We pray that the Almighty Lord will rest her soul and grant her eternal peace. Her love, strength, and legacy will live on through all who knew and loved her.
