Mrs. Katie Jordan was born on May 15, 1927, in Concord, Georgia (Pike County), to the late Dickerson Weston and Emma Milner Weston. From her earliest days, Katie was a beacon of warmth and compassion. Even as a young girl, her gentle spirit and quiet strength stood out among her family and community.
In her youth, she moved from Concord to the Walker Ducker Station area of Dougherty County, Georgia, a transition that began a lifetime of love, service, and resilience.
It was at Shamrock Ranch where Katie’s life took a beautiful turn, there she met the love of her life, the late Sammy Lee Jordan. Their bond blossomed into a 44-year plus marriage rooted in faith, family, and friendship. Together, they raised four children who would become their pride and joy.
Katie’s faith was her foundation. She joined Second Mount Zion Baptist Church affectionately known as The Rock Church early in her life and remained a devoted member until her health no longer allowed her to attend. Her dedication to God and church family was unwavering, and she lived her faith daily through her kindness and service to others.
Throughout her life, Mrs. Katie wore many hats. Known for her pristine white dresses, crisp and clean for her housekeeping work, she took pride in everything she did, whether cleaning homes, caring for children, or supporting her neighbors. Her work ethic was unmatched, and her generosity knew no bounds. If someone needed a helping hand, Mrs. Katie was there without hesitation.
She had a love for simple joys ,especially going to town and shopping. It didn’t take much to make her smile; time with family, a thoughtful conversation, or a new pair of shoes could light up her day.
On May 14, 2025, just one day shy of her 98th birthday, Mrs. Katie Jordan peacefully departed this life. She was preceded in death by her siblings: James Weston, Georgia Ann (Charlie) Bynum, Howard Weston, Thomas Weston, Bessie Weston (Graper) King, and Moses Weston.
Her legacy lives on in her four devoted children: Samuel (Mary) Jordan, Charlie (Melissa) Jordan, Linda Jones, and Rubin (Lucy) Jordan, all of Albany, Georgia. She also leaves behind a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, extended family, church family, and cherished friends.
Mrs. Katie Jordan life was one of quiet strength, enduring love, and unwavering faith. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered. A special thanks goes to Next Step Care, Health One, and Affinis Hospice.
Meadows Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
