On March 6, 1949, a true fisherman was born, ANDREW TRUMAN GERVIN. He was the seventh of seven children born to the late Robert T. Gervin and Mary D. Parker Gervin.
Andrew attended school in the Worth County School District and graduated from J.W. Holley High School in 1969.
He confessed his faith at an early age and joined Charity Grove Baptist Church in Worth County. Later in life, he became a member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Albany, Georgia, under the leadership of Reverend Richard Jordan.
In 1969, Andrew began working for Firestone Tire and Rubber Company, where he remained until its closure in 1988. That same year, he joined the City of Albany’s Chehaw Park, where he served faithfully as Maintenance Manager until his retirement in 2009. Beyond his professional career, Andrew was a self made man—an accomplished carpenter and electrician by trade.
Andrew was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Joseph Gervin and Robert Ed Gervin; his sister, Gloria Graham; his sister-in-law, Betty Jean Gervin; and his brothers- in-law, Eddie Williams and King Floyd.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving and devoted wife, Jacqueline Moses Gervin; four children, Carla Gervin, Carl Andrew Gervin, Mary Ann Teemer (Calvin), and Christopher Young (Tasha); goddaughter, Tameka Sayler (Booker); 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; Andrew will be fondly remembered by his sisters, Maggie Williams and Rosa Floyd; his brother, Theodore Gervin; brother-in-law, William Graham; sisters-in-law, Vera Gervin and Linda Moses Vance; his best friend, Wilbert Ballard; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
