Obituary For Mr. Joe Louis Bardge, Sr.

Mr. Joe Louis Bardge Sr., 84, of Albany, Georgia departed this life on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 at his residence in Albany, Georgia.

Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at 3:00 P.M. in the Jordan Grove Baptist Church, 938 Oakland Road, Leesburg, Georgia 31763.

Interment will follow in the Riverside Cemetery, 200 Cotton Ave, Albany, Georgia 31701.

Joe Louis Bardge, Sr. was born September 11, 1939, in Richland, Georgia to the late Isiah Bardge and Elma Bardge Irwin.

Mr. Bardge was educated in Richland, Georgia and was a member of St. Mark Baptist Church.

In 1961, Joe Bardge was united in holy matrimony to Cindy Bardge. He was blessed with five children and one stepson.

Mr. Bardge was employed at Lykes Packing Company. He eventually ventured out on his own and became an entrepreneur and founder/owner of “Bardge Drywall” established over sixty plus years. He sub-contracted for Mr. Frank Collins Builders for many years.

Mr. Bardge was a famous counter tenor gospel singer. He sang in several Quartet groups in this area. Mr. Bardge later formed “The Dynamic Traveling Gospel Singers” which included members, Joe Paige, Sr., John Kendrick, Sr., David Winbush, Milton Luster, and Bobby Luster (all who are deceased). They performed in Southeastern and Southwestern States and in California.

On August 13, 2024, Joe quietly answered the Master’s call to eternal peace and rest. Joe was preceded in death by his stepfather, John Irwin, two brothers, Otis Bardge and John L. Bardge (Mary Bardge), two sisters, Frankie M. Steely and Ella P. Powell.

Mr. Joe Bardge, Sr. leaves to cherish his memories, Cindy Bardge, Patricia DuPree, Joe Bardge, Jr., Michael Bardge, Lisa Bardge, Jarmen McCray, Kelvin Mosely, and a devoted granddaughter, Tijah Sands, seven grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was a father figure to Dexter Green, Felicia Johnson, Tomika Ocasio, and April Thomas.

Meadows Funeral Home are in charge of the arrangements.
