Several years later, he married Lynnette Russell and gained two sons, Shawn Blaylock and Warrick Blaylock, who later preceded him in death.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by Harry Battle, James Edward Britton, Arthur Carl Battle, Muriel P. Jackson, Denise Battle, and Lula Belle Battle.

Cherishing his legacy of his earthly seasons are Antillia F Battle, Veronice Jones, Shawn Blaylock (Nicole), Warrick Blaylock (Samatha), and La’Sharon Fisher (Christopher); grandchildren, Jasmine Harrell (Carl), Nei’Sha Battle- Montgomery (Devin), Ashley, Tevin, Jaelin, Brandon, Shawn Jr., Kenyata, Rikki, Lisianna, Vincent, Jonathan, Julianna, Ke’Amber, and Adrain; great-grands, Analise, Chloe, Braylon, Kai, London, Mia, Ky’Mani, Avery, Bentleigh, Brandon Jr. Karter, Shawn Jr., and Journey; he is also survived by Veronice Gordon (John), Catherine L. To the Battle Family: I am so sorry for your loss. Joe and Lynette invited us to their home and we had a good time laughing and talking. He was so thoughtful of Lynette and wanted the best for her. I was surprised to hear of his passing although I know that life is fleeting. I'm sure he will be missed.
