Mrs. Mary Frances Williams, 93, of Albany, Georgia departed this life Sunday, October 15, 2023 at her residence. Celebration of life services will be held Thursday, October 19, 2023 at Floral Memory Gardens, 120 Old Pretoria Road, Albany, Georgia.
Mrs. Mary Frances Williams was born June 11, 1930, to the union of the late Joe and Ruth Williams in Thomas County, Thomasville, Georgia. On Sunday, October 15, 2023, Mary transcended from this terrestrial shore to a home of celestial peace.
Married to Rudolph Williams, Mary was the doting mother of Julia Ruth Willams Harris.
Mary was reared in a nurturing, Christian home and church environment. Her childhood and young adult Christian roots were at the Trinity Christian Methodist Episcopal Church in Beachton, Georgia. Her later years of service were at Hines Memorial Christian Methodist Episcopal Church in Albany, Georgia. She served faithfully until health failed in the Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Missionary Society and Stewardess Ministry. She loved traveling to attend the Regional and Connectional meetings for the Missionary Society and Council.
Education was paramount in the Williams household. Mary was educated in the Thomas County School System and received a B.S. Degree in Elementary Education from Albany State College (University) in 1957. She also did further studies at Albany State College (University).
Mary retired as an elementary school teacher from the Dougherty County School System after 30-plus years of teaching fourth grade.
Mary was an active member of the Georgia Retired Educators Association, Dougherty County Retired Educators Association, and Gamma Phi Delta Sorority.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rudolph Williams; her brother, James Williams; and granddaughter, Holley.
Mary leaves to cherish her memory, a devoted daughter, Julia Ruth Williams Harris (Charles); grandson Joel, Sr. (Shorale); five great-grandchildren: Lakyra, Joel, Jr., Jeremiah, Jalin, and Braylen; and two great-great-grandchildren, Sage and Jade, all of Albany, Georgia; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and life-long friends.
