Mother Barbara Brabham Jones was born to the late Otis Brabham and the late Addie Davis on November 18, 1937, in Allendale County, South Carolina.
She began her Christian walk with God at an early age when she joined the Miller Swamp Baptist church, where she was a long-time member. During her early years, she also served as the Sunday School Secretary.
She graduated from Fairfax Training School, Class of 1954. She was also named Ms. Fairfax in 1954. She furthered her studies at Voorhees College, where she majored in Business Administration.
Her greatest joy was her family, built alongside her devoted husband, the late Bennie L. Jones. Their union was one of love, commitment, and shared purpose for 48 years.
Those who had the privilege of knowing her will always remember her warmth, her quiet strength, and the way she made everyone feel loved. She was a constant source of encouragement.
Barbara Brabham Jones peacefully departed this life at the age of 88 in the comfort of her home on Friday, April 10, 2026. In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by: (3) Brothers: Elder James L. Brabham, Sr., Otis Brabham, and Ulysses Brabham; (1) Sister: Mary Ethel Brown; (1) Sister – In – Law: Gladys Brabham; (2) Brother – In – Law: Willie Brown; (1) Son - In - Law: Paul Cummings, Sr.
She leaves to cherish fond memories: (3) Children: Cassandra Harper, Bennie L. Jones, Jr., and Carlos (Wandalyn) Jones; (1) Sister-in-law: Evangelist Eva Brabham; (5) Grandchildren: Carlos (Jessica Nock) Jones, Jr., Melissa (Christopher) DeClue, Darice McGhee, Paul Cummings, Jr., and Justin Cummings; (11) Great – Grandchildren: Mikel DeClue, Madelyn DeClue, Mary DeClue, Gabriel DeClue, Amelia DeClue, Liam DeClue, Joshua Walker, Dorien Cummings, Aaliyah Brooks, Samarian Cummings, and Carmelo Cummings; Devoted Cousin: Elizabeth Preister, Family Supporter: Birdie Washington; Special Classmate: Lillie Dozier Matthews. A host of special nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will forever hold her memory close.
