~ Obituary ~
“The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters. He restores my soul: He guides me in the paths of righteousness for the sake of His name. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.”
Mrs. Carnelia Chaplin, affectionately known as “Nancy,” was born on September 6, 1951, to the late Elise Bostick Williams and the late James McMillian.
At an early age, Carnelia accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized at Rosemary Baptist Church, where she faithfully nurtured her spiritual foundation.
Carnelia attended the public schools of Hampton County and graduated from Wade Hampton High School. Determined to pursue a career in the medical field, she became a Certified Nursing Assistant. Through her compassionate care and dedication, she was employed at Harper Nursing Home in Estill, South Carolina, and John Harter Nursing Home in Fairfax, South Carolina, where she served faithfully for many years.
Carnelia gave of herself tirelessly and unselfishly. She was honest, hardworking, trustworthy, and dependable. An amazing wife, mother, daughter, and friend, she had a special way of guiding, inspiring, and truly listening—not only to what was spoken, but also to what was felt in the spaces between the words. Her presence brought comfort, wisdom, and strength to all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her four children: Antonian, Diane, Vinnie, and Dwayne; five brothers: Joe, Tom, Ire, Big Boy, and Earl; and two sisters: Deloris and Bit.
On Friday, February 13, 2026, Carnelia transitioned from labor to reward at Sprenger Healthcare of Bluffton, surrounded by care and compassion.
She leaves to celebrate her life and cherish fond memories: her loving husband, Daniel Chalpin; of the home; (4) Children: Jerome (Latoya) Wilkins; Daniel Chaplin, Jr., Beaufort, SC; LaTanya Henson; Augusta, GA; Nyla Brooks; Fairfax, SC; and Tasha Williams; Hampton, SC; (8) Grandchildren, (10) Great -Grandchildren; (8) Siblings: Joyce Barnes, Hazel (James) Fredrick, Barbara Best, Willie Mae Youmans, Pauletta Jones, Berry Odoms, Mary Adams, and Maxine Hammonds; Reared in the home as her own: Kerrick Bostick, Reginald Bostick, Monique Bostick, Earl Bostick, Jr., and Erica Bostick; Devoted Nieces and Nephews: Inetha Wesley, Whitney Wesley, Stephanie Ginn, Pamela Graves, Tonia Murray, Thomas Fredrick, Omar Miller, and Keya Miller; Devoted Cousins: Donald Bostick, PaTrisha Bostick, and Michelle Best.A host of loving cousins and sympathizing friends.
