Ruby Thompson was born in Allendale County, South Carolina, to the late Gerod Harvey, Sr., and the late Lillie Mae Murphy.
She received her education in the Allendale County Public Schools System and was a 1970 graduate of C.V. Bing High School. After graduation, she was employed by Dayco in Williston, South Carolina, for several years.
Ruby was joined in holy matrimony to the love of her life, Deacon Robert Lee Thompson, on January 17, 1971, and this union was blessed with four children.
She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. At an early age, she became a baptized member of Miller Swamp Baptist Church. Later, she joined the Nazarene Missionary Baptist Church with her husband.
Ruby gave herself tirelessly and unselfishly. She was hardworking, trustworthy, and dependable. She was a good wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend to many. Ruby loved spending time with her family and enjoying the finer things in life.
She departed this life on July 12, 2025, at Lexington Medical Center.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter: Temeka Thompson, (1) granddaughter: Shanasia Thompson, (1) Brother: Frederick Harvey Sr., mother–in–law: LizzieMew.
She leaves to cherish beautiful memories, loving and devoted husband, Deacon Robert Lee Thompson, of the home; (2) Sons: Matthew Thompson, of the house; Robert Lee (Donnetta) Thompson, Jr., Clemson, SC; (1) Daughter: Lavesha (Brian) Johnson, Lexington, SC; (8) Grandchildren: Robert Lee Thompson III; Allendale, SC; Yakirah Thompson, Latifah Brown; both of Atlanta, GA; Roa‘byn Owens; Augusta, GA; Alasha Johnson; El Paso, TX; Akhiya Johnson, Aubrey, Johnson, and Braylen Johnson; all of Lexington, SC; (6) Great – Grandchildren; (2) Sisters: Deloris (Richard) McPherson; Ridgeland, SC; Theresa (Larry) Taylor; Fairfax, SC; (3) Brothers: Jimmy (Rose) Harvey; Luray, SC; Gerod (Margaret) Harvey, Jr.; Columbia, SC; Mack Arthur Harvey; Jacksonville, FL; Father – In – Law: William Mew; Columbia, SC. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and sympathizing friends.
