FAIRFAX, SOUTH CAROLINA

Ms. Barbara Aiken,70, passed away Thursday, November 15, 2018 at McLeod Regional Medical Center, Florence, South Carolina.

Services were held Saturday, November 24, 2018, 1:00 P.M., at St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church. Reverend Pearlstine Capers, Eulogist. Interment will follow in Smart Cemetery, Allendale, South Carolina.

Calling Hours were held Saturday, November 24, 2018, 11:00 A.M. - 12:30 P.M., at St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church.

Family and friends are gathering at the home of her sister, Rebecca Frazier, 133 Lakey Drive, Fairfax, South Carolina.

~Obituary~

Barbara Ann Aiken was born to the late Gladys Brown and Nicholas Aiken in Allendale County, South Carolina on January 15, 1948. She attended the public schools of Allendale County. At an early age she chose Christ as her savior and joined St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church in Allendale, South Carolina. In 1966, she relocated to Brooklyn, NY and joined Mt. Arrat Baptist Church where she served on the choir and usher board until her health declined.

Barbara was an employee of the Foam Company in Brooklyn, NY as seamstress for many years. She was a devoted mother of three children, whom she nourished until her parting. Her love for flowers and spending time with her grandchildren was her passion.

Sometimes it’s hard to understand, the loss of one so dear our mother, but the comfort of a loving God is always very near.

In addition, to her parents, she is preceded in death by Four Brothers:Joseph Aiken, Nicholas Aiken, James Aiken, and Leroy Aiken; Two Sisters:Virginia Aiken, and Mary Frances Aiken; a devoted friend: Alex Council.

On Thursday November 15, 2018 God plucked a rose from his garden and named it Barbara where she made her peaceful transition from earth to eternity at McLeod Regional Medical Center, Florence, South Carolina.

Cherishing her memories, One Son: Joe Lewis (Tanya) Aiken, Dillion, SC. Two Daughters: Jeanette Aiken (Ronald) Dillion, SC, and Shaniqua(Ralph) Byrd, Brooklyn, NY; One Brother: Alex (Lottie Mae) Aiken, Fairfax, SC; One Sister: Rebecca (Thomas) Frazier, Fairfax, SC;Step-daughter: Mary Alice Council, Rochester, NY. Seven Grandchildren: Ronald Aiken, Tyshawn Aiken, J’ona Aiken, Emoni Smith, Iyanaa Smith, Velma Smith and Deremous Wilder Jr. Two Great Grandchildren: Mynia and Zyrich Aiken. Two Sisters-In-Law: Annie Lee Aiken; Hollywood, FL and Barbara Aiken, Atlanta, GA. Devoted cousin: Arthuree Deloach, Fairfax, South Carolina; Devoted friend: Carl Young, Fairfax, South Carolina.
