Ivy Lee Johnson, was born to the late Mary Harvey Polite and Brantley Harvey on September 18 1939, in Allendale County, South Carolina.
Ivy was educated at Fairfax Training School, formerly Fairfax Colored High School. During her years in school Ivy Lee was a friend to all and a social butterfly in any surrounding.
She was joined in holy matrimony to the late Sammie Lee Gill, Sr. To this union (3) children were born.
Later in life, Ivy Lee relocated to Hartford, Connecticut where she met and married the late Alfred Johnson. This union was blessed with (1) daughter.
Ivy joined and was baptized in the Community Baptist Church's family. She was a faithful member until her health declined.
Ivy Lee was full of life and loved with her whole heart. She loved fashion, her family and friends alike. Ivy possessed an incomparable sense of humor and loved entertaining friends and family.
She was formerly employed by Colt Firearms and Sisters of Notre Dame. Additionally, she was welcomed into the Hashemi family as a friend and employee as she cared for young Ali.
On August 10, 2023 our Heavenly Father saw fit to call Ivy from labor to reward.
As she enters her new life, she will be reunited with her parents, her son, Sammie Lee Gill Jr., her siblings Herbert Benjamin, Sara E. Williams, Marion Wright and Hattie Lee Ellis along with countless other loved ones.
She leaves to cherish her memories: (3) Daughters, Patricia Peeples, Allendale, SC, Joanne Gardner, Columbia, SC, and Harriett Michelle Gill (Darryl Pulliam), New York, NY. (3) Grandchildren, Kalvin Peeples, Allendale, SC, LaChelle Glaspie, New Jersey and Dwayne Ali Peeples (Danielle), Colorado Springs, CO. (13) Great grandchildren, Kyara, Aliyah, Lisa, Jazz, Trinity, KJ, Kase, Kavion, Carlee, Jamier, Davion, Hailey and Brayden. A devoted Son-in-Love: Malcolm Fields, Allendale, SC, a special young man cared for and reared as her own; Ali Hashemi, special friends: Rose and Bethany Anderson, New Canaan, CT. A host of nieces, nephews and many cousins.
