OBITUARY
Reverend Jesse E. Stokes, was born April 29, 1936, in Hampton County, South Carolina to the late Ernest Stokes and Pearline Newton Stokes.
On Tuesday, December 24, 2019, at his residence in Fairfax, South Carolina. God in his infinite wisdom, said to Reverend Jesse Stokes, "Well done my good and faithful servant you have labored over many things and fought the good fight come now and take your rest."
Rev. Stokes received his education at Estill Training School, Estill, South Carolina.
At an early age, he joined Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church and accepted Christ as his Savior, under the Pastorate Sound and Leadership of the late Benjamin "Ben" Burison Sr., Pastor Emeritus. Being a servant of God was a priviledge and joy to his heart.
Rev. Stokes served in many capacities, such as Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, and Sunday School Superintendent. Later, God beckoned to Rev. Stokes and he answered his call to become a Preacher of the Gospel, and he was licensed into the Ministry. He became a licensed Minister on May 6, 1979. While ministering and helping God's people, he became an Ordained Minister on November 29, 1981.
Rev. Stokes was joined in holy matrimony on July 27, 1996, to the former Arner R. Credle.
He leaves to cherish his memory: a loving and devoted wife, Arner R.
