Obituary For Rev. William Roberts

"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only but unto all them also that love his appearing" II Timothy 4:7-8

Pastor William “Billy” Roberts, son of the late President and Ethel Brown Roberts, was born October 13, 1942 in Allendale County, South Carolina.

His early religious training began at his beloved Gillette Baptist Church where he worshipped and served faithfully. Later in life, he answered the call to Ministry.

William attended the public schools of Allendale County. Upon graduation, he worked at Allendale Yawn Company. Years later, he worked as a Construction Foreman with Daniel Construction Company and did so for many years. He was a man of many diverse interest and abilities. For several years after retirement, he oversaw the daily operations of his nephew and partner's farm. However, it was his love of gardening that gave him the most satisfaction and he was always eager to show off his beautiful garden.

He was married to Dorothy Crumley Roberts and this union was blessed with two children.

William transitioned from labor to reward on Friday, May 5, 2023, at Memorial Health, Savannah, GA. As he enters his new life, he will be welcomed home by his parents, (4) Brothers: Cephas Roberts, Edgar Roberts, Johnnie Lee Roberts, Leon Hagood, and (1) Niece: Lillian Brown Brooks.

He leaves to cherish fond memories (1) Daughter: Denise (James) Sewell, North Augusta, South Carolina; (1) Son, Billy (Joyce) Crumley, Barnwell, South Carolina; (2) Brothers: Henry (Dorothy) Roberts, Brooklyn, New York, Sammie Hagood, Allendale, South Carolina; (5) Sisters: Louise Roberts, Mildred Hennighan, both of Fairfax, South Carolina, Ann Roberts, Brooklyn, New York, Hattie Fredrick, Florida and Que Hagood, Estill, South Carolina. (4) Great-Grandchildren: Jayden and Skylar Evans, Cree Fredette, and Zalon Dunnom. Billy had a very close relationship with his nephew; Calvin (Elouise) Brantley, Allendale, South Carolina; his niece: Octavia (Richard) Hayward, Brooklyn, New York, and his cousin, Annette Curry, Fairfax, South Carolina. He also had a very special bond with his daughter-in-love, Joyce Crumley, and his grand-daughter-in-love: Shirolyn Fredette. He had a strong relationship with several of his Brothers and Sisters-in-love as well , James (Demetrice) Crumley, Alexandria Virginia, John (Geri) Crumley, Baxley, Georgia, Rosa Lee Anthony, Port Wentworth, Georgia, Paul Crumley, Fairfax, South Carolina, and Jeanette Hagood, Allendale, South Carolina. The family would also like to acknowledge and give special love and gratitude to his caregivers Debra Ling and Patricia Ann Marshall who did a wonderful job caring for him.
