Obituary For Riley Devore
Riley Devore was born on February 1, 1956, to the late Mr. William Devore and Mrs. Rosella Youmans Devore. At an early age, Riley exhibited a combination of creativity, strength, and curiosity that would shape the man he became.
A true craftsman, Riley was known as a “man's man,” someone who could build, fix, restore, and create with his hands. His skills made him a trusted and reliable tradesman, not only for his family, but also for his friends and community. Whether offering guidance on a home repair or physically helping with a job, Riley was always first in line to serve.
Riley was a vibrant personality, the life of every gathering, and a friend to all. He never met a stranger. His presence lit up the room. Whether strumming his guitar, taking the mic for an impromptu serenade, or sharing a few karate moves inspired by his love for Bruce Lee films. He knew how to have a great time and draw others into the flow of the friends and family fun.
Though life brought its share of trials, Riley was a man of resilience. He faced adversity with quiet strength and joy. He always managed to bounce back and push forward with a smile. His bounce-back ability is part of what makes his passing on July 10, 2025, so profoundly difficult. On that day, surrounded by love, Riley transitioned from labor to reward and entered his eternal home.
His infectious smile, sense of humor, and deep love will be missed beyond words. His legacy lives on not only in our hearts, but it will be seen in the work of his hands that still blesses the lives of so many.
Riley Devore leaves to cherish his memory: his beloved partner, Laverne Capers; two devoted daughters, Renika Devore and Shakeena Devore-Frelot (Wyatt); one loving son, Jacotron “Andre” Potts (Latoria); and two cherished grandchildren, Cameron Hinson-Potts and Grayson Singleton. He is also remembered by his dear sister, Berlene Alexander, and two brothers, William Devore and George Woods. He leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends who were blessed by his love, his laughter, and his life.
