“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth, there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.” 2 Timothy 4: 7 – 8
Sylvia Zenovia McTeer-Young, sometimes called Sylvia, but better known as Gma, was born February 10, 1939, in Allendale County, South Carolina, to the late Arbena and William McTeer.
Sylvia was number 3 of 4 children. She attended Fairfax Elementary and later went on to work in Retail, as well as taking care of others, big and small, young and old.
Although she did not formally complete her dream of being a Nurse, her mission was to serve, and she did so by being a helping hand, a caretaker, and a nurse for many, without the hefty student loan burden.
She was also a Proud member of the Nazarene Missionary Baptist Church, where she served multiple roles, including singing in the choir.
If you looked outside some early mornings, you could catch her cruising along on her bicycle.
Always a lady, with a beautiful smile and a caring heart, our place of comfort and peace.
As she enters her life, she will be greeted with love from her beloved sons: Carroll Dane McTeer Sr. and Zachary Young (2), Siblings: Calvin McTeer and Wilhemenia Mays.
She leaves to cherish her fond memories: (1) Son: Monte Young; (9) Grandchildren; (20) Great–Grandchildren; several Great-Great-Grandchildren. A host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and loving friends.
