“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me crown of righteousness, which the Lord the righteousness judge, shall give me at that day; and not to me, but unto all them also that love his appearing.” II Timothy 4: 7-8
Wendy Marcella Smart Harvey was born July 30, 1968, in Allendale County, South Carolina, to Beatrice Riley and the late Trottie Smart, Sr.
At an early age, she sought God’s direction and joined Greater Bethel AME Church, Fairfax, South Carolina.
She attended John Cox Elementary and Wade Hampton High School.
During her leisure time, Wendy enjoyed dancing and singing, and she always had a loving personality. She would help her grandmother during treatments. Wendy cared for her father, the late Trottie Smart, Sr., until his passing. She also had a hand in raising her cousin Malik. Wendy would babysit her nieces and nephews, and she was always there for her mother and siblings.
Wendy moved to Lakeland, Florida, for a brief period. While there, she was employed with FlaTile. After relocating to Fairfax, South Carolina, she married Joseph Harvey.
She became a follower of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Wendy loved her family dearly, and her family loved her as well. She made many sacrifices to help others. She was there to see her nephew, Christian Smart, graduate. When the glass was half full and half empty, she would always see the good side in anyone. She loved animals, and she would always feed them. Wendy believed in giving someone another chance. Her favorite scripture was Psalm 91, “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most high, shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.” Wendy always said, “I trust Jesus, God got this!” and don’t worry.
As she enters her new life, she will be greeted with love from her beloved father, Trottie Smart, Sr., and Rebecca Smart, Trottie Smart, Jr., Ethel Mae Smart, Ida Smart, Queenie Gregory, Rosa Lee Smart, Luberta King, Ed Smart, Albert Smart, Ben Smart, a loving and devoted cousin: Darlene Smart, Henry Smart, Mary Shaw Dodson, Johnnie Mae Martinez, Henry Riley, Jr., James Riley.
Our Heavenly Father saw fit to call from labor to reward our beloved Wendy on Thursday, April 3, 2025, in the comfort of her home.
