It is with sorrow that the management and staff of Mitchell -Josey Funeral Home, Inc. announces the passing of Mrs. Jannie Ruth Hickman Smith. Mrs. Smith passed on Sunday morning, April 28, 2019 in a Florence Hospice facility.

Funeral service is 1:00 PM on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at Center Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Wild's Quarter Cemetery.

~Obituary~

Jannie Ruth Smith was born on August 2, 1950 to Henry and Inez Hickman in Darlington County.

She received her schooling in the Darlington County Public Schools. As a young adult, she worked in the Agricultural Industry.

She married the love of her life Lee Donald Smith (who preceded her in death) at a young age.

Jannie was a lifelong active member of Center Baptist Church where she worked faithfully until her health failed.

She leaves to cherish her memories three sons: Ronnie (Veronica) Hickman, Randall Hickman, and Roger (Nicole) Smith; one sister, Selena McClam; four brothers, Frank Hickman, Willie Hickman, James Hickman, and Pete Hickman; grandchildren, Chassity Hickman, Kelcey Hickman, Nyviah Smith, Roger Smith, Jasmine Walden, Rodagus Thomas Jr., Justin Thomas; one great granddaughter, Kamyrn Hickman; an adopted mom, Emma Hickman, and a host of aunts, uncles, and friends. One granddaughter preceded her in death, Alicia Green.

Visitation for relatives and friends will be at 110 Pepper Drive, Darlington.
