Obituary For Barbara Hunt

Sister Barbara Hunt was born in Carthage, MS on April 5, 1955 to the late Charlie Gates and the late Hattie Mae Hunt of Carthage, MS. She joined Galilee M.B. Church at an early age. She graduated with honors from Edinburg High School in 1974. She retired from Rankin County-Central Mississippi Correctional Faculty in 2019. She departed this life surrounded by her family and love ones on August 12, 2021 at Hospice Ministries. She was preceded in death by her parents: Charlie Gates and Hattie Mae Hunt; one sister Constance Hunt; and two brothers Thomas Hunt and Charles Johnson.

She leaves to cherish her memories two daughters, Monica Hunt of Ridgeland, MS; and LaWanda (De-Mario) Smith of Madison, MS; four grand-children, Jasmine Ofei and Christopher Hunt of Ridgeland, MS; Dillan and Addison Smith of Madison, MS and one great-grandson Jayden Burrage of Ridgeland, MS; one brother Alvin (Patricia) Johnson of Carthage, MS and one sister Jacqueline Johnson of Walnut Grove, MS; Sister-in-law Daisy Hunt of Carthage, MS and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
