Mr. Charles Corey Griffin was born February 8, 1969 at University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, MS to Charlette and Rozie Stribling Griffin. He was the oldest of two children. He was wed in holy matrimony to Lisa Cololier Griffin. To that union two children were born. At an early age he joined Messiah Baptist Church in Detroit, MI. As a teenager, he transitioned his membership to Galilee M.B. Church in Carthage, MS.
Charles Corey was a graduate of South Leake High School's Class of 1987. He attended Alcorn State University for 3 years. Charles Corey worked at Sunsport Apparel in Sebastopol and Lena, MS as a shipping clerk & Choctaw Maid in Carthage, MS on the sanitation crew. He later extended his work history as a receiving clerk at Pearl River Resort until his health caused him to stop working.
Over the course of his life, Charles Corey was a very kind hearted and humble person that everyone enjoyed being around. He brought life to any event and always had encouraging and positive words to anyone in need. He was an avid fan of the Los Angles Lakers, Detroit Tigers, New Orleans Saints, and Detroit Lions.
He leaves to cherish his memories two children, Charles Montrel Griffin [Philadelphia, MS] & Mikayla Cheryl, Helen Griffin [Pascagoula, MS]; one grandchild, Makinlee Janiya Griffin, & his children's mother, Lisa Collier Griffin [Philadelphia, MS]; his father, Charlette [Vernell] Griffin [Carthage, MS] and mother Rozie Helen Stribling Griffin [Detroit, MI]; three brothers & two sisters; Lamont [Johnnie ] Griffin [Madison, MS], Joshua [Ray] Griffin [Carthage, MS], Mark [Latoya] Gates [Philadelphia, MS], Renee Kelly [Canton, MS], & Kathy Ramage [Carthage, MS]; eleven aunts; Lossie, Bennie, Dorothy, Claudette, Bobbie, Ruth, Margaret, Carmen, Lisa, Marvis, Stephanie & Kim; a host of nieces, nephews & cousins; as well as his life long friend, Kempton Horton.
