PLACE OF SERVICE: Mt. Olive, M.B. Church, Carthage, MS

DATE OF SERVICE: Saturday, 09/10/2022 @ 1:00 p.m.

INTERMENT: Mt. Olive, Carthage, MS

VISITATION: Friday, 09/09/2022 -9:00 a.m.- 7:00 p.m.

Freddie Mae Luckett Gray (Totsie) was born on July 22, 1949 to the late Fred and Bessie Luckett. She was the fourth of eight children.

Freddie joined Christian Union M. B. Church at early age. Even though she joined Christian Union, she attended Mt. Olive M. B. Church because her family lived in walking distance of the church. She later moved her membership to Mt. Olive and was a faithful member until her health failed in May. She was president of the youth and mass choirs, church announcer, and served on the kitchen committee. She did whatever was asked of her to do in the church.

Freddie graduated as salutatorian from Greer High School in 1967. After graduation, she was employed by Greer High School as a secretary. She later attended Havens Business College for one year. Afterwards, she moved to Milwaukee, WI where she worked at St. Joseph Hospital.

On August 30, 1969, Freddie was united in holy matrimony with the late Roosevelt Gray, Sr. Unto this union, three children were born: Fredrie (Bamm), Roosevelt Ir., and McKinzie (Boo).

Freddie and Roosevelt, along with their kids, Bamm and Jr., moved back to Mississippi in 1972. Freddie worked at Garan for 29 years, until its doors were closed. She attended Holmes Community College for a year and even stayed on campus. She worked at the Walnut Grove Correctional Center as a master control operator until she started having problems with eyes.

Freddie was well known by everyone. She never met a stranger. Her passion was serving others. Her greatest passion was COOKING. This was the BEST gift God gave her. She called it her "hot spot.? Her favorite dishes were turnip/mustard greens with ham hocks, collard greens with pig tails, chicken and dumplings, her famous hamburger steak, and the BEST cream cheese pound cake in the south. Her 70th birthday celebration was planned and catered by the BEST cook in the south, HERSELF.

Freddie worked with the late Wynifred Spears in organizing the TAC Gospel Chorus. She made the dresses for the ladies. She had her kids, and not just her biological kids, at practice every Saturday leading up to the big day. She was also a BETA mom and would go on trips, serving as a chaperone. She worked with Judge Ruby Graham and others to organize MLK activities. There were so many more events she was involved in, too numerous to name all. She was a true Servant of God. No matter how the ole body (she would say) ached with pain, she NEVER said no to anyone that asked her to do anything.

Her biggest event was hosting the 3-day Gray/Boyd reunion every year until COVID hit. She did this in honor of her late mother-in-law and husband. Her husband's family would come from Milwaukee and Cleveland and eat from Thursday to Saturday, all day and night.

On Thursday, September 1, 2022, our Heavenly Father dispatched his angels to escort His child home. Those left behind to cherish Freddie's memories are: one daughter, Fredrie; two sons - Roosevelt (Tina) and McKinzie (Tomeka); five grandsons - Ronedric (Alexis), Erin, Zaiden, Jaden, Richard; two granddaughters - Olivia and Nyla; three great granddaughters - LaColea (Tweety), Zenovia, Zamiyah; five great grandsons - Caron, Logan, Javion, Jaylon and Davarious; Alonzo Hutchins was affectionately taken in as a grand son when he moved to MS; last, but not least, her precious PLUM, Mama Tuddie.

Others left to cherish Freddie's memories are: four sisters - Shirley Hughes, Bessie (ST) Walker, Essie Jenkins, and Hazel (Murphy) Wilder; one brother - David (Linda) Luckett.

Also left to cherish Freddie's memories are: two sisters-in-law - Maebell Wilder and Annie (Darnell) Hill; nine brothers-in-law - James (Becky), Jeff (Hattie), Melvin, Joseph, Bennie (Annie), George (Mamie), Henry (Candi), Jimmy (Debra), and Willie Williams; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
