Mr. John Henry Moore was born August 15, 1939, in Meridian, Mississippi to George and Jessie Levata Moore. He was the only boy of seven children. He confessed a belief in Christ at an early age and joined the Church of God in Meridian, Mississippi.
John grew up on a farm near Marion, Mississippi where, as the only son, he learned all the tasks necessary for a farmer. This would help him in his future careers. He attended public school in Meridian until the 10th grade, when he had to drop out to help run the farm.
John left home a few years later and moved to California. He worked many jobs, including landscaping. He returned to Mississippi for a brief period where he met and married Clarice Walker. They returned to California and to this union four children were born.
In the 70's John and his family relocated to Meridian, Mississippi, where he became a full-time carpenter.
After having a stroke in 2010, he moved to Carthage, Mississippi in 2011, where he remained until his death.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Jessie Leveta Moore, three sisters, Nina Bell, Juanita Clark, and Marjorie Hall.
He leaves to mourn his passing three sisters, Barbara Jean Parker, CA; Clara Shack, VA; and Mattie Hopson, MO. Two special friends, Laverne Monroe and Willie Shack; four children, Janet, Patricia Lynn, John, Jr., Latrice, a host of grandchildren as well as relatives and friends.
