Mary Elizabeth was born the second child to Percy Sr, and Elizabeth White Honeysucker on July 1, 1954, in Camden, MS.
She attended Madison County Schools, where she graduated from Velma Jackson High School, Class of 1972. She attended Mary Holmes College, Holmes Junior College where she received her Associate's Degree and obtained both her Bachelor's and Master's Degree from Jackson State University.
Mary Elizabeth had the desire to mold the minds of children and young adults; some of the jobs that she was most passionate about was teaching at Velma Jackson High School, Center Manager of Winson G. Hudson and Director of the Boys and GIrls Club of Carthage, MS. Mary's current job was title was Insurance Agent and Broker which she did exceptionally well, being named the #1 Salesperson for the State of Mississippi for two consecutive years.
In her leisure time, Mary enjoyed traveling, sitting on the porch with her dog “B” attending to her chickens and garden, and swinging in her swing in the evenings.
She was united in holy matrimony to Leo Hawkins Jr. in 2015.
Mary Elizabeth departed her earthly life on Monday December 9, 2024. She was preceded by her husband, Leo Hawkins Jr. and sister in love, Mrs. Bessie Honeysucker.
Mary's memories will forever be cherished by her siblings, Percy (Gladys) Honeysucker Jr. of Carthage, MS. James Michael (Rona) Honeysucker of Hattiesburg, MS. Joseph Lawrence (Jeanette) Honeysucker of Brentwood, TN. Thelma Honeysucker Young, Walter Leon Honeysucker and Gwendolyn Honey sucker of Camden, MS, aunts Lillie Roberts and Minnie Pearl White of Camden, MS and Bernice Mims of Fayette, MS uncles Willie Honeysucker of Arlington, TX and Aaron Honeysucker of Jackson, MS; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. Also , two very special friends, Rose Houston and Mary Jane Butler.
