Annie M. Johnson was born on March 11, 1931, in Pulaski County, Georgia, to the late Willie Crawford and the late Mattie (Nash) Crawford. At a young age, Annie experienced the loss of her parents and was raised by her grandmother, Pearl Hall.
Annie accepted Christ and joined Antioch Baptist Church, where she faithfully served alongside her late husband, Eugene Johnson Sr. Later, she moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where she became a devoted member of Peaceful Zion Missionary Baptist Church, serving as a Deaconess and a member of the Eastern Stars. As she became older, Annie and her husband of sixty years moved back to Georgia, where they lived until his passing.
Annie was married to Eugene Johnson Sr. This loving union was blessed with 8 children.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Johnson Sr.; her children: Mary J. Thomas (Lorenzo Sr.), Eugene Johnson Jr. (survived by Katherine Johnson), and Willie J. Johnson; her brother Rollie Crawford; and her sister, Dora Basley.
She leaves to cherish her memory her children: Jimmy Johnson, Bruce B. Johnson, Barbara Johnson, Vanessa Johnson (Lesley Johnson Sr.), and Mattie Johnson; 14 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-great-grandchild, along with a host of family members and friends.
