Some people come into our lives and leave footprints on our hearts that time can never erase. Today, my heart is heavy as I reflect on the loss of someone who was not just a friend, but a part of my childhood and a part of my life's journey.
We shared a bond that was built long before the responsibilities and challenges of adulthood took us in different directions. Although I had not seen Brenda during the last nine months of her life, the time and distance between us cannot erase the memories we shared, the friendship we had, or the place she will always hold in my heart. Sometimes life has a way of separating us physically, but it can never rewrite the history we share with someone.
One of the things I will always remember about her was her passion. She was a woman who spoke her mind and let you know exactly how she felt. You never had to guess where she stood! She had a strong spirit, a bold personality, and a heart that showed itself in the way she cared for others.
Her love for children, especially the children with special needs whom she cared for in our community, was truly something special. She didn't simply care for those children; she loved them as if they were her own. She became a mother figure to them, pouring her heart, time, patience, and love into their lives. My own step-granddaughter was blessed to experience that love firsthand.
That kind of love is a gift. Not everyone has the heart to care for another person's child as their own, but she did. The lives she touched and the love she poured into those children will forever be a part of her legacy.
As I reflect on her life, I am reminded that we don't always get the opportunity to say everything we want to say before someone leaves this world. Sometimes we are left with memories, unanswered questions, and words that we wish we had spoken. But I take comfort in knowing that the friendship we shared was real, and the memories of our younger years will always be a part of me.
My heart aches knowing that you are no longer here. I wish we could have shared one more conversation, one more laugh, or simply one more moment together. But I will not allow the last nine months to define the years of friendship that came before them.
You were my childhood friend, and that is a part of my story that will never change.
Rest peacefully, my friend. Thank you for the memories, for the love you gave so freely to those children, and for the mark you left on the lives of so many. Your time here may have ended, but the love you planted in the hearts of those you cared for will continue to grow.
You will be missed more than words can express, and you will never be forgotten. β€οΈποΈ
I met ms Brenda in 2021 when I started working at WES She was always so sweet and gave the best hugs! Take your rest sweet lady no more pain!
I worked with Brenda for a long time at Westside. I spoke with her many mornings as I supervised the lunchroom, and I would speak with her anytime I walked through the lunchroom. I had to stop working in August of 2025 and retired January 2026. I missed speaking with Brenda. I consider her a very dear friend and will miss speaking with her if I go up to Westside. Rest easy my friend you will be missed and loved by many!
