Broderick LeFure’ “Ricky / Big Bird” Davis was born June 26, 1956 in Montgomery, AL to the late Lillie M Davis.
He relocated to Warner Robins, Georgia in 1968 due to the pioneer efforts of his mother during the integration of professional educators in the local school system. After graduating from Warner Robins High School as an esteemed member of the Class of 1974, he attended Alabama State University receiving an Associate’s Degree in History. Ricky joined the United States Army in 1975 under the buddy system with Arnold Lee “Hamp” Hampton, and severed until to 1978. He retired from the 402D Maintenance Support Squadron at Warner Robins Air Force Base after 35 years of dedicated service. In addition, he was a faithful member of Greater Springfield Missionary Baptist Church for 30+ years.
One of the best highlights of his life was spending time with family and friends. He cherished his family, especially his “Grands,” and showed everyone he met kindness and love.
He was a dedicated and proud member of 402D Retiree Group and Southside – WR Reunion Group.
Ricky leaves behind to cherish his memory a devoted wife of 42 years, Mrs. Tammye C Davis; sons, Pierre M (Tiwanna), Broderick L (Bethany) II, Israel R (Genesis); grands, Broderick III, Brooklyn, Edyn, Bryant, Marley, Prince; sister, Vickie Howard; aunt, Edna Davis and a host of nieces and nephews and several devoted friends.
I met Ricky in high school and there was never a dull moment when he was around. He will be missed. With deepest sympathy, sending my condolences to the family. Philamenia Radford Brown
I met Rickey in 1983 when I was in the Air Force and station at Robins. We became friends and we never looked back. Like his wife stated that he loved being around family and friends. Will be missed RIP (BIG BRIDS) DEACON FARRIEL AND LUCILLE LEWIS.
