Kenneth Powell, a dedicated husband, father, and retired teacher passed away unexpectedly on September 15, 2024.
Kenneth was born in Fairmont, WV on May 27,1956 to the late Mattie Lou Powell and Artis H. Powell Sr. He attended Fairmont Senior High School where he was the first African American senior class president. After high school he attended Fairmont State college where he obtained his Bachelors of Psychology degree. After college he married his high school sweetheart Deborah. Later they moved to Georgia to work for his uncle Johnny Mack Brown’s car dealership. Kenneth was a dedicated teacher for the Houston County Board of Education for many years with his last assignment at Warner Robins Middle School from 1997-2018. After retirement he finally fulfilled his dream of going to to visit the islands. Kenneth loved music, collecting watches, and the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers.
Kenneth Powell was preceded in death by his father Artis H. Powell Sr; his mother, Mattie Lou Powell; his brother Rodney Neal Powell; his sister Mary Jo Fayoyin( Gabriel); and niece Marteena Powell.
He leaves loved ones to emulate his life, wife, Deborah; sons, Rashad Powell and Artis Powell (Teunna); daughter, Kenya Powell Terrell (Maurice); grandchildren, Keyshawn Powell, Emri Powell, Jordan Powell, Trenton Powell, Jaishaun Terrell, Destiny Powell, Kaedon Powell, and Aubree Powell; brothers, Artis H. Powell II (Ruth), Glenn Powell (Sissy); sister, Jacqueline Powell; nieces, Angela Powell, Alicia Powell (Shaughn), Tumbijika Powell, Tabitha Powell; nephews, Ashley Powell, Peter Powell, Andrew Powell, Artis Powell III, Michael Fayoyin, and Matthew Fayoyin.
