Mrs. Phyllis King was born on September 7, 1943 on Long Island, New York, to Mary Lou and William (Willie) Richardson. She graduated from Jeremiah Burke School for Girls in Boston, MA, and worked for more than 20 years for Polaroid in Cambridge, MA and for more than 10 years for Raytheon in Andover, MA.
Soon after high school, Phyllis met and married her first husband, Charles W. Redd, Jr., with whom she had three sons, Charles W. Redd, III, Kenneth E. Redd, and Tracy M. Redd. When this marriage dissolved in 1970, Phyllis became a very loving and devoted mother, often working multiple jobs in order to afford very elaborate Christmases and other holiday celebrations for her sons.
While at Polaroid, Phyllis met and eventually married the love of her life, Mr. Wayne C. King, whom she married in 2015. Phyllis and Wayne retired to Warner Robins, GA, in 2016.
On December 10, 2023, Phyllis was called home to God and her heavenly rewards. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her very generous and caring spirit. She was proceeded in death by her mother, Mary Lou Ray, her father, Willie Richardson, and her stepfather Darrel Ray. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband Wayne C. King and her three sons Charles, Kenneth, and Tracy Redd; three sisters, Cynthia Younger, Patricia White, and Eleanor Thomas; and five brothers, Kenneth, Maurice, Larry, Brian, and Robert White. She also leaves behind grandchildren Cassandra, Dakota, Anthony, Kayla, Chyna, and Tierra, and great-children Mikai, Eli, Elijah, and Jayceon, as well as many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
"Though you have made me see troubles, many and bitter, you will restore my life again; from the depths of the earth you will again bring me up. You will increase my honor and comfort me once more." (Psalm 70:20-21).

Sending sympathy and love to all family and friends of Phyllis. I never met Phyllis, but her son Charles with his words and his expression of love for her that he has shared we have felt to have known a bit of her beauty, strength and kindness. A woman to always be fondly remembered. Jennifer Cavagnac, and the CDI Team at Baystate Health
