Beulah Mae Newton, 75, of Pensacola, Florida, passed away Thursday, September 25, 2025, at her residence.
Service will be Saturday, October 4, 2025, at 12:00 noon, (viewing one hour prior to the service) at New Haven Funeral Home Chapel, DeKalb, MS, with Rev. Douglas Newton officiating.
Interment will be at New Hope Blackwater Cemetery in Daleville, MS.
Mrs. Beulah Mae Leavell Newton was born on February 19, 1950, in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, to the late Isaac Earnest Leavell and Mabel Lee Day. On Thursday, September 25, 2025. Beulah peacefully entered her eternal rest at her home in Pensacola, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Isaac Earnest Leavell and Mabel Lee Day Leavell; her devoted husband of 36 years, Carnell Newton; one brother, Edward Leavell; one sister, Gloria Drake; and two sisters-in-law, Ella Renee Newton and Artencia Winston; one brother-in-law, Seaman Apprentice Amos Newton.
At the tender age of 13. Beulah dedicated her life to Christ at First Street Church in Hopkinsville.
She attended Booker T. Washington Middle School and went on to attend Artics High School. After segregation, she became a proud graduate of Hopkinsville High School, on May 30, 1969, where she was active in the marching band and excelled in track.
Beulah began her career in 1969 at America Time Corporation. In 1973, she moved to Chicago, Illinois, where she was employed with Ford Motor Company until 1980. Later that year, she relocated to Columbus, Georgia, where she served as a plant manager for Dolly Madison.
It was during this season of her life that she met the love of her life, Carnell Newton. They were united in Holy Matrimony on September 16, 1983, and together made their home in Columbus, Georgia where they raised three beautiful daughters. After Carnell's retirement, the couple made Daleville Mississippi their home and they joined New Hope Blackwater Baptist Church.
Beulah was a devoted wife, loving sister, and cherished grandmother. Her faith in God and dedication to her family were the foundations of her life. She touched many hearts with strength, kindness, and unwavering love.
Beulah leaves to cherish her memory: her daughters, Dwahaza (Federick) Asieau, Dennexx (Andrew) McClendon and Donquel Leavell; her stepdaughter, Shirley Pegues; her siblings, Barbara (Louie) King, Tarrance Crump, Kim M. Bennett, Lachreshia Rudolph and Isaac Leavell Jr.: her grandchildren, Kawain Leavell, Alaisha McCullum, Katron Jones, Markeas Jones, Tre’Von Cole, Karnell Jones, Brandon McClendon, Christopher McClendon, Keiana Jones, Keilah Jone, Kaylah Jones; 15 great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Carol Leavell, Cleophas (Joyce) Newton, Aaron Newton, Elliott (Jacqueline) Newton, Rev Douglas (Shelia) Newton, Kent Newton, Jarvis (Yolanda) Newton, Gregory Westerfield, Brenda (Moses) Alston, Hilda D. (Gus) Rush, Angie Levata (Rickey) Davis, Tanisha Westerfield (Roderick) Smith and Lakia Michelle Westerfield; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
Beulah’s life was a beautiful example of perseverance, love, and faith. Though she will be deeply missed, her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
